Dimensional Mapping
Once the catalog is uploaded, mapping the right fields from the catalog is important.
Mapping the fields
Depending on the size of the catalog, the products are parsed and indexed after uploading it. Once the catalog is uploaded, perform the following steps:
Step 1: Map the important Fields: Unbxd’s AI engine recommends some of the important fields from your catalog. It is recommended that you map these fields and their data types to the Unbxd defined fields.
This mapping helps us understand your catalog better. If your catalog contains a field ‘Amount’ while at Unbxd we define it as ‘Price’, then make sure the field names are mapped.
Under this step, you could find the important fields to map from your catalog.
- Select the field from the list of Unbxd defined fields
- Choose the relevant data type.
Once the fields and data types are mapped, save the settings.
Also, datatypes once selected cannot be edited.
Note: Mapping of “Product Id” and “Product Title” is mandatory for indexing the catalog. Other fields can be mapped after indexing too. Also please note we do not consider all fields added or mapped for use in Filtering and in Templates. Meta Fields found at the end of dimension mapping is where all fields relevant for filters and templates or to be passed along with the API along with the Recommendations.
Step 2: Configure your optional field properties
Once the important fields are mapped correctly, you can configure rest of the optional fields.
- Select the field from the list of Unbxd defined fields.
- Choose the relevant data type.
- Select the transformational scripts and set the values to deploy those settings.
If you don’t wish to map certain properties, click ‘Skip this property’.
All the fields defined in your catalog are listed and mapped to their respective data types automatically.
Note: The Datatypes are non-editable.
Once done, click ‘Review Import’. This feature lets you save your mapped fields. Save it by naming the adapter.
Note: The indexing might take some time. Therefore, keep patience for the upload to completely happen.
This whole procedure of product upload and mapping is done by our PIM solution. Post this, we need to build our search solution.
